moonrise
is this honey or tar?
didn’t think we’d get this far
heel my hand upon your silent eye
take this breath into yours and deign to die
circular gestations, human timing
gears grinding is more than gratifying
moonrise portent looming freshly over dunes
turn back round love, i’ll be there soon
radiating violence in the darkness she slept
and i, naught but a bug those silent hands kept
lanterns laying inside my prisoner’s chest
glowing against the reeds while i rest
waiting for the moonlight to grow thin
in dark dirt beds i lay praying for him
anguishing for the reprieve of his light
forestall this quiet aching in the night
pleading hands deal the same cards i rend
take these lessons and make the world of them
