made from canvas salvaged from vintage duffel bags and bank bags. hand stitched, painted, stamped and mended. inner wool lining is secondhand, bolt gifted to me from a friend. stitching/mending/sashiko done with poly standard and embroidery thread. vintage wooden buttons in front and at wrists for best fit. 5 pockets total, inner pockets found stuffed in a bucket in my late grandfather’s woodworking garage lol.

i color it in, red as it was
promises that make even these caring words hurt
wishing the mordant in my blood would make this red stick to your shirt
justify washing away this shame where you reside
growing sprigs on my ends like the trees i pass by
those green tips of pines im eating them small
to the roots i cross—treading gently a promise to them all
avoiding their buried limbs as i migrate through
avoiding my touch as i wanted you to
