Blood & Vine Patchwork Shirt
made from a vintage tablecloth and poly blend fabric on the sleeves (secondhand, once a bedsheet—don’t worry everything is always laundered ofc). some yellowing and stains due to the nature of the vintage tablecloth and its uses before it came to me. you can see the staining very faintly near the upper buttons, but it’s not very noticeable, i swear. features patchwork from scrap fabric, and hand stitching like kisses around the collar.
shoulders across 18”
sleeve length 22”
sleeve opening 12.5”
chest 55”
hip/waist buttoned 48”
collar to hem length 23.5”
collar around 16.5”
for this collection i’m opening sliding scale, but also most importantly the chance to barter (or a blend of both). i’m interested in art you make, songs you wrote, cultural/ethnic recipes, penpal letters, poems and prose, used books you love, oral storytelling (family legends!!), all ideas are welcome. labor hours on this are uncounted but it took me exactly a month to finish.
NOTE: This piece was sold as a trade, monetary amount listed is a mid valueon the sliding scale.
this collection was a meditation on transformation, death, life and rebirth. when i started it i was also beginning a phase of great personal grief, shedding a lot of versions and parts of myself i’d collected over the years that no longer served me. i remembered that sometimes bloodshed is required for growth. sometimes we are meant to cut up bits of fabric woven from the past and try our hardest to make new life from it. despite the grief, pain and trauma of living i am still so grateful to be born over and over again through a mess of blood and vine.
